Peterborough, Lansdowne Place
February 23, 2008
It all came about because one young lady had a desire to help, a creative idea, a willingness to work hard, and a beautiful head of hair to offer for others.
Lisa Van Vliet decided in the summer of 2007, that she would be willing to have her head shaved in order to raise money for Brock. But Lisa wasn't going to do this for just a small amount. This girl thought BIG!
She went to her youth group leader at Kawartha Community Church, Tony Posthumus, and suggested the idea ... with a target goal of $10,000.
Tony and other members of the group caught the vision, and the work began.
By the time Feb 23rd rolled around, they had all kinds of support, including corporate sponsors, news media, citizens (young and old) and even a city councillor!
And did they reach their goal of $10,000?
THEY MORE THAN DOUBLED IT !!
Way to go Lisa, Tony, fellow youth group members, and all who participated. Many thanks to you all !! |
